I Knew Peter Batty from 1988 until he moved to the South West Area. Peter and I worked at Prendiville Catholic College for many years and always shared our common experience of Vietnam, Peter from 4RAR and I from 1RAR. Peter achieved great things at PCC and was a great thinker as to what grew best in the rock and sand of Ocean Reef. Some of the tasks seemed impossible but Peter always found a way of getting it done.
Rest in Peace my friend, your duty is done. Condolences to family and friends, Brian Buzzard

I also came across Dick Utting from time to time, as he was a platoon commander in 1RAR. Dick was at ‘Firebase Coral” at the same time as me. He shared the same rockets ,mortars and bullets that came our way on the 12/13th May 1968. He was quoted in ‘The West Australian’ newspaper, reporting to the people of WA, what a shambles and complete military stuff up “Coral” was on the first night we arrived there. 11 diggers died and 28 wounded in about 5 hours of continuous firefights, that had to involve our own guns 102 Batt. firing 5 rounds of Splintex into our Mortar platoon to clear the NVA that had over-run the Mortar Plt. and Gun 6 of 102 Batt. Dick rarely spoke of this action but when he did you knew it was all facts. I recall his dulcet tones on ABC radio and his service to the community.
Rest in Peace SIR, your duty is done. Condolences to family and friends, Pte. Brian Buzzard
