We have received advice of the death on 20 September 2023 of Albertus (Willy) Willemsen. He was 76. Willy was a National Serviceman who served in Vietnam with 105th Field Battery of 1st Field Regiment from February 1969 until December 1969.  Willy was a life member of the 105th Battery Association and had lived at Wheelers Hill in Victoria.

Vale 214941 Peter William Fleming – RAA

We have received advice of the death on 13 October 2023 of Peter William Fleming. He was 78. Peter was a regular soldier who deployed to South Vietnam with 105th Field Battery in September 1965.  Peter remained with 105th Field Battery until they returned to Australia in September 1966. Peter deployed to Vietnam again in September 1967 with 106th Field Battery of 4th Field Regiment. Peter spent time in FO Parties as well as on the gun line. He returned home from his second tour of Vietnam in September 1968.

John was the radio mech for 1RAR in Vietnam 68 and went on to Malaya and Singapore Though RAEME Corp he has the Infantry combat badge

My great mate passed today at 12.30pm

There will not be a funeral but I hope a celebration of his life

Vale 3792428 DOUGLAS ALLAN KENT – 5RAR

10 December 1947 – 29 September 2023

PTE Douglas ‘Doug’ Kent, formerly of Caboolture, QLD, died on Friday 29 September.

Doug did his Recruit Training at 2 RTB, Puckapunyal, VIC. He then went to Infantry Centre, Ingleburn, NSW, for his Corps Training. Doug deployed to Vietnam, on 8 February 1969 as a carpenter, with Assault Pioneers Platoon. He was returned to Australia on 13 August, of that year, due to a medical condition.

No funeral details are at hand at this time.

Aged 82 Years

Late of Mount Louisa. Peter passed away peacefully at Townsville University Hospital on Tuesday 26th September, 2023. Loving Husband to the late Pam. Loved Father and Father-in-Law of Rebecca and Christian. Beloved Son of Dorothy and Francis (both deceased). Beloved Brother of Nicholas (deceased), Georgina (deceased) and Paula. Brother-in-Law of of Sidney, Mark, Nadia, Roseanne, Gerard, Bernadette, Lindsay, Jeffrey and Lois. Beloved Uncle, Cousin and Friend to many.

I don’t know whether you know of ex-army soldier Robert Service. He is a member of the Wynnum and Manly Men’s Shed. He served in Vietnam and I think the battle of Long Tan. Sadly, he passed away last Saturday23 Sep.
His funeral is tomorrow Fri 29th, in Wynnum.

Sad news via Ross Eastgate, David Watson passed away in Perth yesterday, (Wednesday). He has been unwell for some time with Parkinson’s.

From his daughter Tammy.

“Dad’s wish was not to have a funeral, instead to spread his ashes at a favourite location and for us to celebrate his life.

While we can’t give a date, we will provide details for anyone wishing to celebrate in Perth and then on the East Coast.”

He served in SVN with 104 Sig Sqn, PNG, Germany and was CO 1 Sig Regt in Brisbane.
