With heartfelt sorrow may I advise you, with deep sadness, that my close mate and family friend of many decades and our SAS colleague from those Vietnam and Papua New Guinea days, John Guy, passed away peacefully at his property at Rathdowney, Scenic Rim, this afternoon.

A man of immense integrity and abounding love for his fellowman, particularly for youth at risk. You will be missed old mate. RIP with your heavenly father.

I am extremely sad at having to post details of Kenny Cheers passing. Ken and I shared a tent for seven months in Vietnam, he was a forward scout in our section and did an outstanding job. We have remained good mates since I again established contact in 1985. I will miss your phone calls Kenny, rest in peace mate till we meet again.  Ray

We have received advice of the death on 9 January 2023 of Ivan Mills.  He was 88. Ivan served in Vietnam with the Detachment of 131 Divisional Locating Battery from February to November 1969. Ivan’s funeral will be held on Wednesday 18 January at South Chapel, Forrest Lawn cemetery Leppington NSW, at 1030 AM.

Vale – WO1 John Powell – RAEME

It is with sadness that I have to advise the passing of WO1 John Powell (ret) Art Tels who passed away on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

John served in the 70’s and 80’s predominantly at Puckapunyal and RTC Bandiana.

He resided at Cobram Victoria but was visiting his daughter in Melbourne over the Christmas period.

We have received advice of the death on 4 January 2023 of David James (Buck) Ryan. He was 76. Buck served with 101st Field Battery, 1st Field Regiment in Vietnam from May 1969 until March 1970.

No other details are available at this stage.

It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of Merv Potter on Monday 2 January 2023.

He served at NQ WKSP COY and 3 EME SVCES among other postings.

Merv was an active member of the RAEME Association in North Queensland, number 156.

He resided just outside Ingham in North Queensland and was a Board Member of the Herbert River RSL Sub Branch.

Sadly, I advise of the passing of Ian Lygoe.  Ian passed on 21st December after a prolonged illness from cancer and other medical problems.
Our thoughts and best wishes are with his wife Beverley and children.

Due to the Christmas holidays and family members living overseas, a memorial service for Ian will be held at St Michaels Golf Club at Little Bay in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney.
The timing and date for the service will be advised next week.

The family would appreciate all those who knew and served with Ian to attend the service.
Suit / Jacket, 9RAR ties and medals to be worn.
