1735113 Donald Banks

Sadly I have to advise you that another of our 6 RAR family members, Donald (Don) Banks (A Company), has passed away. I was advised by Doc Laurent, who had been in contact with Don’s son Matthew. Don was part of A Coy, CHQ support section on the 69-70 tour of Vietnam. I have no other information at this stage, but will pass any along as it comes to hand.

LTCOL R.P. (Phil) Kudnig RAE (Retd)

LTCOL R.P. (Phil) Kudnig RAE (Retd) passed away in Victoria on 27 April 2020.

Phil was commissioned with the OCS Class December 1953 (The Third Class), he also being awarded the Governor General’s Medal.

He returned to OCS on the staff 1964 – 1966.  He then moved over The Rip to Army Staff College in 1967.

In South Vietnam, he commanded 1 Fd Sqn RAE Jan – Nov 1971.

1733972 Raymond Arthur Bourne

Sadly I have been advised that 1733972 Raymond Arthur Bourne passed away on Tuesday 21st April after a long battle with cancer. He was a member of 9 RAR and served in Vietnam 9 Nov 68 – 12 Dec 69.

He will be cremated under isolation rules and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

I have been advised by Bill Giles that John passed away yesterday (17th April 2020). He served in 11PL, D Coy 1RAR in Vietnam 65-66. John died in the Mater Hospital in Newcastle his funeral will be next Friday.

3411779 Sgt. Barry A Brewer.

3411779 Sgt. Barry A Brewer.

I have been advised that Barry has passed away, unfortunately, I do not have a date of his passing. Barry served as a Sgt at OR Training Wing, 3 Training Group at Puckapunyal, he served as a Corporal with 3RAR  in South Vietnam from 16 Dec 1967-18 Dec1968, Barry was born in Southend on Sea, the UK, on 3 January 1947, Sadly Barry Died from Lung Cancer.

 

17864 Robert Julian Davis

Bob Davis passed away Good Friday evening after a long illness. Bob graduated from OCS Portsea in Dec 1964. He served in 1,2 and 8 RAR. He was the platoon commander of 12PL D COY 1RAR from Feb 66 – May 66, then 1ARU from May 66 – Sep 66 then 5RAR Sep 66 – Feb 67. Bob also served with 8 RAR

After the Army Bob became a successful restaurateur and had restaurants in Byron Bay and Brisbane. At the time of death he lived in Casino.

Bob was. Colourful larrikin fondly remembered and respected by his Portsea classmates.

I am unsure of funeral details.

Raymond John ( Blue ) Parnell

Raymond John ( Blue ) Parnell passed away on 8th April, Blue lived in Kippa-Ring on Redcliffe peninsular.  Blue served in Malaya 67- 69 with 8RAR. He had a few tours to Malaya as he married Sue who was from Ipoh Malaya. Great rugby player and a great bloke

213316 John Moller RAE

Sadly I advise of the death of 213316 Sapper John Ignatius Moller.

John served in Vietnam with 21 Engineer Support Troop RAE

No funeral details available as yet, I am assuming that it will be a private funeral (10 pers).
