We have received advice of the death on 29 May 2023 of Barry Allan Faulkner.
He was 77. Barry was a National Serviceman who served with 101st Field Battery RAA in Vietnam from September 1966 until June 1967.

Barry had been suffering from cancer and indicated he did not want a funeral. A wake for
Barry is planned but no details have been provided at this stage.

RIP Barry Allan Faulkner.

Vale Alan (Gardy) Bruce Guarde – 9RAR

I wish to advise the passing of Alan Bruce Guarde (Gardy) Admin Coy 9RAR. Alan was one of the original founding members of the 9 RAR Drum and Bugle Band. He passed away peacefully in the Dalby Hospital on Saturday 20th May.

He did not want to have a funeral so will be privately cremated in Toowoomba. His wife Jane will be holding a wake in Dalby on Wednesday 31st May in The Thomas Jack Park cnr Condamine St and Bunya St at 11.30 am light lunch provided bring your own drinks all welcome. For catering please advise Jane if you are attending (0411256623).

Death Notice David John Burgess – RAA

We have received advice of the death on Tuesday 23rd May 2023 of David John Burgess. Dave had served with the RAA from April 1954 to October 1969 and rose to the rank of Major. He served with 5th Field Regiment in Brisbane and had been Battery Commander of all Batteries within the Regiment. Dave’s final posting was as Second in Command of the Regiment. He was also heavily
involved in the National Servicemen’s Association of Australia (Brisbane North Branch) until he was overtaken by ill health. Dave died peacefully in his room at Wheller Gardens, in Chermside, Brisbane.

Farewell to a Sig ~ 18322 John (Jack) Michael Elford

For the record ~ Yesterday we said Farewell to John Michael Elford.   Service number 18322.

Known to most as Jack  – John Elford served in the Royal Australian Corp of Signals from 3rd September 1963  until 2nd September 1969.

His Operational deployment was in Vietnam from 1st June 1965 through to 17th June 1966.

Mass was offered at St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Whitehorse Road in Mitcham.

John Cunnington has advised that John (Flags) Toohey has passed away at 8.08 PM on the 20th of May after a long and courageous battle against cancer.

His funeral will be held at St Mary’s Church Goondiwindi at 11.30 AM on Tuesday the 30th of May.

Flags was a member of 4 Platoon B Coy. first tour.

Sadly, we have been informed that James (Jim) HUSBAND, BEM, OAM, passed away at 4.30pm Sunday 21 May 2023 in Coolum.

Jim was the 5th RSM 6 RAR and a Korean (2 RAR 1953) & Vietnam Veteran (AATTV 1964/65 and 7 RAR 1970/71).

Funeral information is as follows:
